Anne Heche Has Fallen Into a Coma After Fiery Los Angeles Car Crash
A rep for Heche says the actor is in “extreme critical condition” after crashing her car into a Mar Vista residence on Friday.
Heche's representative stated in a statement on Monday that Anne is currently in an extremely critical condition. "She needs mechanical ventilation due to a significant pulmonary injury, and surgery is needed to treat burns." She is unconscious and hasn't awakened since right after the accident. "
Heche has been in the hospital since last Friday, when she collided with a house in Los Angeles' Mar Vista neighborhood, setting both her car and the house on fire. Heche's publicist issued a statement on Saturday stating that the actor was "in stable condition."
Heche's car was completely inside the Mar Vista house she collided with when the accident occurred, and 59 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire. Firefighters had to battle the blaze for more than an hour before they could free Heche from the rubble. Heche was reportedly able to speak after being saved, but she quickly fell unconscious.
Heche was allegedly seen speeding, driving erratically, and, according to Deadline, getting into another minor car accident a few blocks away minutes before the collision on a doorbell camera. Officer Annie Hernandez of the Los Angeles Police Department stated that authorities had a warrant to take the actor's blood.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Lynne Mishele, the woman whose residence was destroyed in the crash. It has already raised over $100,000 as of Tuesday morning. According to the page, Mishele "very narrowly escaped physical harm," but her home was "completely burned" and she lost "her entire lifetime of possessions."
